- . September 26. Meeting of National Presidents took place
The meeting considered the following issues:
- LES USA/Canada (chief society) for LES Columbia - successful conduction of seminar in Columbia.
- A question of introduction of obligatory rotation of heads of National Societies into the Constitution of LES International (remained unsolved).
- Mr. Shopman. Presentation of on-line changes in data of members.
- On the same day, Meeting of European Presidents took place.
The meeting considered the following issues:
- Admission of Croatia to LES International members as a National Licensing Executives Society. The issue was suspended due to insufficient activity of the initiative group from Croatia.
- Licensing training course developed by LES USA/Canada. Delegates from National Societies will be trained to obtain a teacher certificate allowing teaching this course in a particular country. Any national adaptation of the course must be approved by LES USA/Canada.
- European Conference of LES International in Paris in 2004. Discussion of agenda. The agenda should desirably include presentations with French coloring in order to enhance interest in the Conference.
- LES Russia web-site was declared as one of the best.
- September 27. Morning session of International Delegates Meeting.
Issues discussed:
- What is LESI - Presentation by LESI President Mr. Terri Suerra.
- Primary licensing course. Report of LES USA/Canada about preparation of the course and conduction of training among the delegates from National Societies.
- International Conference of LES International in Cairo in 2004. Problems with preparation of the Conference due to complicated political situation in Middle East. The Conference may be possibly called off.
- Mr. Goldsheider's proposal that book "Guide to Licensing" be translated into Russian. The proposal is currently under consideration by Board of LES Russia.
- Slogan "Connecting Licensing Professionals Around the World" was adopted.
- A new trade mark and a respective licensing agreement were proposed.
- Heads of Committees were discussed.
- September 27. Four working groups were held:
- Membership and chief societies
- Web-site information
- Structure of LESI management
- Committees and working groups
September 27. Participation in Committee on Conferences.
The following issued were discussed:
- Income from Conferences should be divided fifty-fifty (in percent) between LES International and National Society.
- Nonrefundable loan (up to $10,000) may be provided by LES International to a National Society in case of problems with organization of a Conference.
- Report on conduction of International Conference of LES International in Osaka in 2002.
- Report on preparation of International Conference of LES International in Oslo in 2003.
- Report on preparation of International Conference of LES International in Cairo in 2003.
- Report on preparation of International Conference of LES International in Munich in 2005.
- Report on preparation of International Conference of LES International in Seoul in 2006.
- Report on preparation of International Conference of LES International in Zurich in 2007.
- September 28. Morning session of International Delegates Meeting.
Issues discussed:
Report of working groups
- Changes in web-site were adopted
- New structure of LESI was adopted (App.12)
- Each National Society should publish information about national seminars with indication of spokesmen on web-site of LES International.
