|
Seminar "Intellectual Property Assets Valuation" organized by LES Russia and LES Germany was held in Moscow on June 28, 2002. The seminar was attended by 47 participants from Germany, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Latvia, Ukraine and Russia.
The reports reflected different aspects of intellectual property valuation, referring to both Russian and German experience. The speeches delivered by Mr.Heinz Goddar (Germany)and Mr.Gunter Isenbruck (Germany) aroused much interest of the participants. Dr.Isenbruck, Partner with "Bardele, Pagenberg, Dost, Altenburg, Geisler, Isenbruck" has made a report entitled "The History of Intellectual Property Evaluation and Personal Experience in the past 10 Years" devoted to theoretical aspects of evaluation, in particular, to setting the terms for introducing different IP subject matters into economic life, risk levels, royalty rates. Dr. Goddar, the Partner with "Boehmert & Boehmert" has considered several practical situations related to patent and know-how transfer and evaluations. The speech of Mr.Atim Rhoeder (Germany), "Deloitte & Touche", dealt with intellectual property valuation in business, as considered from another point of view, that is from one of auditing companies and tax authorities. Similar Russian practice was discussed by Mr.Andrey Kolchin (Russia), Tax Department of "PricewaterhouseCoopers", in his report "The Specificity of Intellectual Property Evaluation for the Purposes of Taxation". The state control over IP evaluation was reported by Dr.Boris Leontyev (Russia), of "Institute of Certification and IP Evaluation". His report dealt with recommendations for evaluation and inventory of intangible assets, developed by the Russian Government. Russian experience in IP valuation was described in the report of Ms.Yulia Samsonenko (Russia), IP Valuation Expert with "GORODISSKY & PARTNERS". The specificity of intangible assets valuation, information gathering, unavailability of approved valuation procedures accepted by all market participants, - all these issues had found a broad response of the Seminar participants who represented legal, patent, valuation and industrial firms, as well as universities and organizations making use of intellectual property.
