| On March 26-28, 2004 Svetlana Makeeva and Sergey Dorofeev, International Delegates of LES Russia, took part in the meeting of LESI International Delegates. Also Valery Medvedev, Vice-President of LES-Russia, participated at said meeting as a guest.
On March 26 a meeting of European Presidents was held. Among the participants Mr. Nabil Salame, President of LES Arabian Countries, and Mr. Alan Lewis, President of LES South Africa, were also presented. The following issues were discussed: - On the preparation for LES International Conference (scheduled to March 29-31, 2004, Paris). The conference was prepared completely. Over 500 attendees and 200 accompanying persons were registered. The program included 2 Add-ons; 2 Plenary Sessions; 4 Mini-Sessions; 1 Round table meeting; 17 Workshops. - On non-availability of Add-ons for the International Delegates. The courses were scheduled to the same time as the meeting of International Delegates; - On the proposed amendment to LESI By-laws on obligatory rotation of officials heading national Chapters (said amendment is not adopted as yet); - On the preparation for LES International Conference 2005 in Munich (June 11-15). Said preparation has reached its final stage; - On sponsorship and assistance to new and minor member societies. A training seminar for lecturers who will teach the Basic Licensing Course (Warsaw, June 2004) will be sponsored by LES Scandinavia. The seminar will be organized by LES USA and Canada, and LES Great Britain and Ireland. On March, 28 a Round table will be held addressing said matter; - On holding the European Day in Brussels (one-day seminar in October, 2004); - On signing the licensing agreement on LESI trademark. Neither of member societies has signed said agreement as yet. Said matter is subject to further discussions. At the meeting of International Delegates which took place on 27.03.04 and 28.03.04 the Delegated discussed some points of this organization, co-ordination of national societies, amendments to the By-law, the program of further developments, as well as reports of national societies, reports of LESI Board of Directors, reports of Committees, and further improvements to LESI web-site. Also the issue of obligatory participation of national presidents, or their authorized representatives, in each meeting of International Delegates was raised (no final decision is adopted). On March 28 a Workshop was held on mentoring to new and minor Chapters. Mr. Adam Liberman (Australia) moderated said Workshop, Mr. Heinz Goddar (Germany), Mr. Guenter Izenbruck (Germany), and Mr.Valery Medvedev (Russia) delivered their reports. On March 28 Valery Medvedev and Sergey Dorofeev negotiated with Mr. Ted Cross (Canada), LESI Committee Chairman, on co-operation between said Committee and LES Russia in the preparation of a seminar on transferring university technologies to Russian industry. The seminar is scheduled by LES Russia to November, 2004. | ||
